THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RECREATION ON ARIZONA TRUST LAND
1. Arizona Trust Land is land managed by the State Land Department Trust Land is not public land!
2. A recreation permit is required to camp, hike or travel on Trust Land that is designated as open for recreation
3. A recreation permit is an agreement between you (the responsible casual user) and the Department, to allow limited recreational activities conditional on your continued responsible behavior (see terms and conditions)

Recommendations: Silver RIver Ranch recommends the following places in Arizona for horseback riding. We’ve personally been to most of these places and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there.:
Arizona Horse Lovers’ Park Located in northern Scottsdale in the Reach 11 area, south of the Loop 101 freeway. Lots of well marked trails with plenty of room for gaiting.
Coconino National Forest Located in northern Arizona and full of gorgeous pines and aspens. We recommend Little Eldon Springs Horse Camp in Flagstaff, where you can make your riding as easy or as hard as you’d like.
Goldfield Mountains Located east of Apache Junction, the trails can be as easy or as difficult as you make them. You can ride up to Salt River or over to the Superstition Mountains. You can base camp at Goldfield Ghost Town, a small tourist town with a museum, saloon, curio shops, and trail riding. Great place to relax and have dinner after a long ride!
Groom Creek Horse Camp, Prescott A beautiful camp with plenty of riding in the forests of Prescott, Arizona. Located within driving distance of downtown Prescott. Maricopa County Usery Park Located in north Mesa and west of Apache Junction. Ride the Bulldog Canyon off of Ellsworth Road all the way to Canyon Lake or trailer into the park to ride a variety of terrains.
Northern Arizona Riding Stables Although we haven’t been there ourselves, we’ve heard nothing but great things about this riding stable! Has RV hookups, campsites, BBQ pits, picnic tables, bathrooms with showers, stalls or turnouts for your horses, and miles of well-marked trails. If you go, let us know how it was!
Tonto National Forest The Tonto National Forest covers a large portion of Arizona, and offers many horse-friendly campgrounds. We recommend the Houston Mesa Horse Camp as one of our favorite locations to ride.
